Africa-Press – Eswatini. Despite a 1-all draw with Madlenya, Moneni Pirates are off the basement of the MTN Premier League charts.
The two sides crossed swords in an MTN Premier League clash played at KaLanga Technical Centre in Siteki yesterday. Moneni Pirates were first to find the back of the net through Mayibongwe Malinga before Mncedisi Magagula restored parity 12 minutes from time. Pirates are now on seven points and they are tied with Manzini Wanderers. The latter will end the year at the bottom on an inferior goal difference if they fail to prevail against Manzini Sea Birds tomorrow or at least get a draw.
For second-placed Madlenya, it was a missed opportunity to close in on log leaders Green Mamba. A win would have helped Madlenya to slash Green Mamba’s lead to one point. The Correctional Services outfit are three points clear at the top. They are on 27 points. Yesterday’s game marked the end of the first round for both sides, as they will hope to start the new year with renewed vigour, in chase of their different goals.
