PM GETS RAVE REVIEWS FOR WEEDING ROYAL FIELDS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Prime Minister (PM), Russell Dlamini, has received rave reviews from Emabutfo and members of the public for being arguably the most visible PM during Incwala in recent years, especially by partaking in the weeding of Royal Fields.

The PM, who was spotted weeding with the thousands of Inyatsi Regiment at Imfabantfu and Enkembeni Royal Fields and taking pictures with Libutfo, was applauded for making time in his busy schedule to partake in the cultural assignment of weeding which forms part of activities undertaken during the course of the sacred Incwala ceremony.

Commencement of the Incwala was a culmination of the safe and successful journey of the water party (bemanti) that had been commissioned by the King as part of preparations for the national ceremony.

Thereafter, began the Little Incwala which lasted for about two weeks before the main day.

During the course of the revered ceremony, the King moved with the Little Incwala to other royal residences which included Ngabezweni, Mbangweni, and Buhleni where he commissioned Tingatja to march to Ngabezweni Royal Residence to meet their peers before proceeding to cut the sacred Lusekwane shrubs at Nhlambeni.

“It’s nice to humble yourself Samketi and get to interact with Emaswati, keep it up,” reacted Spholesihle Dlamini on Facebook after the PM posted different pictures where he interacted with both politicians and ordinary members of the public during the weeding of Imfabantfu Royal Fields on Saturday.

inspired

Another Facebook user, Simoe Melusi Jiyane said he had been inspired by the attendance of Dlamini during both the weeding and actual dancing of Incwala.

“It is even more beautiful to see leadership humbling themselves alongside the nation. So honourable and inspirational,” said Jiyane.

Sambulo Dludlu said it was pleasing that the PM remains humble even when he holds a position of high authority.

“It was great seeing you Nkhosi. I have never seen someone in high authority like you who remains so humble,” Dludlu posted.

The PM was seen not only weeding at Enkembeni Royal Fields on Monday but also took time to interact with the senior warriors and the public as well. He even went to the extent of dishing up with the warriors after dancing to ‘umgubho’ songs for up to 30 minutes after weeding was completed.

adhering

Dlamini also showed respect for warriors in the regiment by adhering to all orders which included taking off t-shirts when doing the traditional dance known as ‘kuhlehla’ that gets done when weeding has been completed.

The PM described adherence to Eswatini culture and traditions as an easy task that could be executed by everyone at ease.

Dlamini said weeding could seem a difficult task from afar when in actual fact it was very easy because regiments assist one another as they worked together towards achieving a common goal.

“There is nothing difficult about honouring culture and weeding. It may seem difficult when you are not involved, but after witnessing the cultural activity first hand you get to understand that it is very easy.

“I encourage more Emaswati to honour culture because it defines who we are,” said Dlamini.

The PM said he had also been impressed by Emabutfo who attended weeding of royal fields. He mentioned that what was encouraging was the fact that the maize would also assist Emaswati especially during cultural events, ensuring food security.
