Africa-Press – Eswatini. Cabinet in the 12th administration has committed to improving the nation’s welfare and ensuring development.

Prime Minister, Russell Dlamini, made the commitment to improve the nation’s welfare and ensure development in his New Year message he shared on his social media pages.

The premier said as they began the year government would improve the lives of Emaswati and that they were determined to work together with the nation to build a beautiful life in Eswatini.

He also wished the nation a happy New Year filled with blessings as he stated that success would be achieved through working together.

Message

His message was well received by the members of the public who shared their priority areas, which includes job creation, expediently addressing the health crisis, addressing challenges in the education sector and salary review for civil servants. Others encouraged the prime minister to work hard to ensure that his goals were reached, while others voiced their support and called for action as many promises had been made.

While they acknowledged and appreciated the statement, members of the public said the statement was good but pleaded for improved response times.

They also called on government to review the issue of value added tax (VAT), payas you earn (PAYE) and further demanded better service delivery in all government departments.

This comes in the backdrop of the public expressing their frustration after government was last week unable to offer services for over two weeks due to a glitch in its network.

“There is one area that you need to urgently address and that is job creation and also the issue of salaries as we do not get anything,” wrote one of the concerned citizens.

Another challenged the prime minister to work on health issues, education and reviving the economy and also called on government to improve international trade. Another area of concern was that of safety and security.

Taking the opportunity to raise their concerns, another user urged government to ensure that all people over 60 years retire and open positions for the youth.

“His Majesty told you to act swiftly, we hope you remember that and that is what you must do,” a Facebook user said.

“Thank Your Excellency. We wish you strength and God’s protection and favour usagijima Nkhosi utse Nkwe! Sitalibambisa natsi live leNgwenyama na Hulumende wakhe wekunene! Happy New Year,” wrote Alec Lushaba.

Again, another thanked the premier for his commitment and said all they were asking for from government was service delivery and that education should be prioritised.

“Permanent employment is what we are looking forward to Your Excellency that will be a step towards development,” added another.
