POET MSANDI KABABA REFLECTS ON PERFORMANCE WITH HILLSONG WORSHIP

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Msandi Kababa performance was successful in Kenya and Uganda over the past weekend at a show organized by Odelia Events.

The showhosted Gospel mega-group, Hillsong London Worship. After his performance, the artist shared the experiences he had before, during and after the events.

“I arrived in Kenya the same day as Hillsong London Worship and that was Tuesday. We promoted the concert in different media houses and I would use any opportunity that would avail itself to promote the Kingdom of Eswatini (its rich history, the humility of Emaswati, our rich traditions, beautiful landscapes and arts). I would also raise the kingdom’s flag every now and then on stage during performances,” he said..

He added that, from Kenya, he then flew to Uganda – where the first concert was taking place at Lugogo Cricket Stadium in Kampala. Afterwards, he then flew back to Kenya, where the last concert was taking place on Saturday night. He reflected that the concerts were of a high quality, pulled huge crowds and gave him a higher level of understanding regarding the entertainment industry.

“Their levels of concerts are very high and they attract huge crowds. I learnt a lot and this gave me great and important exposure. I think my level of understanding and knowledge of the entertainment industry, as well as music as a whole has changed and that included stage performances and preparing one’s self for other international shows,” he stated.

The reception he received, he added, when he was announced as an artist from Eswatini, was one of anticipation and curiosity. He noticed that audiences were always open to different kinds of music from different countries and backgrounds. Despite the audience not knowing his songs, they showered him with positive feedback.

“As soon as they would mention that the next artist is from the Kingdom of Eswatini, you could see and feel that the audience was waiting to hear what Eswatini had. I realised that, in the entertainment industry, the audience was always opening up to different kinds of music from different countries and cultures. The audience would respond positively – though many did not know my songs but they gave me strength and confidence by screaming, clapping hands and dancing as well as lifting up their hands,” he said. He stated that he performed well in both countries, and was happy for the opportunity. He added that he had also developed relationships with the Hillsong members which could possibly lead to future collaborations. Talks, however, were still in progress.

“I shared a stage with great East Africans and, above all, the renowned international legendary group, Hillsong London Worship. Ever since I arrived in Kenya, I have been with the Hillsong members. This was very important because we have discussed so many future projects that we are yet to see if we could work on and put them together. Most importantly they shared the secrets of getting where they are and amongst some of them was the importance of staying humble, working hard and always praying,” he said.
