Africa-Press – Eswatini. University students and members of various political parties successfully delivered a petition rejecting the findings of an inquest into the death of Thabani Nkomonye who was allegedly killed by the police.
Protestors were earlier blocked by the police next to the Manzini Central High School on their way to the Regional Headquarters, the police subsequently fired shots in an attempt to disperse the protestors, however, they later regrouped and went on to deliver the petition.
Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson declined to comment when reached by this publication.
Reached for comments, after the delivery of the petition,Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said as students, they always make sure they finish what they have started.
“As students and the youth of this country, we always try to finish what we have started.The youth must start developing a culture of defiance and do things by force if they want to achieve the democracy we are seeking,”said the Students President.
