PUNTER LOSES OVER E75 000, TRIES TO COMMIT SUICIDE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. A punter who allegedly lost over E75 000 on one of the betting platforms, is said to have tried to commit suicide.

The incident happened last week around Nhlangano in the Shiselweni Region. This publication gathered that the man, *Musa, who is a Mobile Money (MoMo) agent around Nhlangano Town, first won over E20 000. In his second attempt, he won about E40 000. Sources informed this publication that Musa then went on to bet all the money he had won and lost all of it. It was said that he then used his business money to play but lost again. He is said to have then called an agent they used to load MoMo units and requested him to deposit about E15 000 into his account. He allegedly promised to refund the agent on the following day.

Gambled

According to the sources, Musa gambled with this money and lost. The sources further revealed that Musa then tried to commit suicide by hanging himself, but the tree he chose was too short such that his feet could not touch the ground. “He then tried to ingest a poisonous substance and locked himself inside his house,” said the source. The agent who had sent him the E15 000 is said to have called him several times for his money but he did not respond to the calls. The agent is said to have hired a taxi to Musa’s house, where he found his car parked outside and the keys to the house were in the key hole inside. “He was not picking but his phone was ringing inside,” narrated the source. It was further gathered that the agent called the landlord and they broke into the house and found Musa in a very bad condition.

The source said Musa was rushed to hospital, where he was treated and discharged on Friday, having fully recovered. It was gathered that Musa’s wife made means of paying some of the money owed to the agent. When reached for comment, Musa did not want to address the matter but kept accusing one of the people who assisted him of being responsible for spreading information about the incident. “Can I talk to you in person, where can I find you?” he said before terminating the call.
