Africa-Press – Eswatini. Royal Leopard……………. (3)3
Moneni Pirates…………… (0)0
A convincing 3-0 win by Royal Leopard over Moneni Pirates at KaLanga Stadium yesterday afternoon put the police side back to the summit.
‘Ingwe Mabalabala’ are now two points ahead of second-placed Mbabane Highlanders.
Lungelo Tsabedze bagged his first brace while Junior Magagula scored the other goal in the exciting MTN Premier League encounter.
The former Mbabane Highlanders winger (Lungelo) scored the opening goal from close range six minutes into the game.
Leopard started the match on the front foot as they continued to press the opposition after taking the lead.
Tsabedze completed his brace in the 17th minute after dribbling past two defenders before beating the goalkeeper with a great shot.
The league defending champions were a better side in the first half while Pirates also tried to string decent passes.
Leopard suffered a blow in the 28th minute when Lungelo Tsabedze had to be pulled off after picking up an injury. He was replaced by Thokozani ‘Thikithi’ Dlamini.
The home side continued to push Pirates back but goalkeeper Bhekisisa Dlamini tried to keep his team in the game with great saves.
Leopard scored the third goal just before half time after Pirates’ Njabulo Dlamini rough-tackled Junior Magagula.
The police side utilised the free-kick, with Junior Magagula making it 3-0. The match went to break with the home side leading 3-0.
Pirates were the better side in the second half but finding the back of the match proved futile.
Sensing danger, Leopard coach Edwin Matsebula made a number of changes to try and restore their control of the match.
He introduced Bongani Ndzimandze, Menzi Sithole, Wandile Simelane and Fanelo Tsabedze.
They protected their lead until the final whistle.
It was sweet revenge for the police side as the Sea Robbers beat them 3-2 in the corresponding fixture.
