Africa-Press – Eswatini. Rising Stars Generation Eswatini (RSGE) has extended a helping hand to the Youth Action Movement (YAM) Eswatini by donating 80 packs of sanitary pads to support their Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 commemoration.
This gesture follows a public appeal by YAM for donations under the banner “Help Us Raise Sanitary Pads” and be part of the #PowerPeriod campaign. The initiative aims to ensure that every young person can manage their periods with dignity.
The donation was officially handed over on May 26, 2025, during a brief event attended by various stakeholders, including a representative from the Mbabane Municipal Council. The contribution seeks to address period poverty, a persistent challenge that causes many girls in under-resourced communities to miss school.
According to Bandile Dlamini, Assistant National Coordinator for RSGE, emphasized the importance of such support. “This initiative reflects our shared vision for a healthier, more empowered generation. We are proud to respond to this call and contribute to a cause that uplifts the dignity and education of young girls,” he said.
Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 28, aims to raise awareness around menstrual health and the need for access to hygiene products, education, and supportive environments. YAM’s campaign focuses on breaking period stigma, promoting menstrual education, and advocating for policy-level change to ensure period dignity for all.
Katle Sojane, Advocacy and Communications Coordinator for YAM, expressed appreciation for the support. “This is more than just a donation it is a stand for equity. We are advocating for access to affordable menstrual products, busting myths through education, and creating safe spaces for those who menstruate. No girl should miss school because of her period,” she said.
RSGE, a youth-led organization committed to leadership and sustainable development, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting meaningful, youth-led movements across the country. Their timely contribution not only addresses an urgent need but also sets a strong example of youth solidarity in action.
As Menstrual Hygiene Day approaches, both organizations are calling on the public, private sector, and policymakers to join in prioritizing menstrual health for all.
