Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Equestrian Federation Eswatini (EFE) gears up for the National Show Jumping event next.

EFE Secretary General (SG) Justine Martin revealed that they would be preparing for the National Show Jumping event in December. She mentioned that the event was likely to run for two days, which will be December 8 and 9, 2023. Show jumping requires athleticism, control and accuracy from both horse and rider, over a set course of knockable fences. These are verticals, spreads, double and triple combinations, with a variety of turns and changes of direction. The aim is to jump cleanly over the set course without knocking down the fences, refusing or running out. For many classes, this must be achieved within an allotted time to go through to the next round, known as the ‘jump-off’.

Shortened

The jump-off is against the clock over a shortened course and determines the winner. The combination with the fastest time and the least amount of faults wins. Some classes are one round on time with the fastest time and least penalties being the winner. Meanwhile, the EFE recently completed their National Dressage Championships at Nyanza Stables in Malkerns, where the event featured training classes for youngsters. Jeanine van Wyk earned herself the President’s Award when she was riding Diamonds Applause, while the adult National Dressage Champion was Kate Rielly-Warr on Swazi Lizkhar’s Lagos.
