SIDWASHINI GETS NEW FOOTBRIDGE, BRINGING RELIEF TO COMMUTERS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Municipal Council of Mbabane has completed the construction of a new footbridge in Sidwashini, a move that demonstrates the council’s continued commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring safer and more convenient access for residents.

According to the municipality, the bridge will benefit more than 150 people who use it each day. These include Sidwashini residents, as well as teachers and pupils from Cedusizi Primary School and Hermann Gmeiner (SOS) Primary and High School, making it a vital link in the community.

The project cost the municipal council approximately E130 000. According to officials, this investment was necessary to improve safety and ease movement in the area.

The newly constructed bridge is a permanent structure designed to last more than 15 years. It is part of the municipality’s long-term plan to develop durable public infrastructure across Mbabane.

The construction was carried out by Ulwazi Construction, which completed the project within the expected timeframe. The council praised the company’s workmanship and efficiency throughout the process.

Municipal officials noted that while the footbridge is built for long-term use, it will require minor routine maintenance over the years. These efforts will help ensure the structure remains strong and reliable for the community.

When contacted for comment, one resident who preferred to remain anonymous expressed gratitude and excitement. He uses the bridge daily to walk to work in the Sidwashini Industrial Site.

“This bridge has made my morning and evening walk so much easier and safer,” he said. “We used to struggle to cross, especially during rainy days. I am really happy the council thought of us” added.

The footbridge is already in use and has been warmly welcomed by the community, showcasing the Mbabane Municipal Council’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life through practical and lasting developments.
