SIPHOCOSINI HIGH PUPIL SHARES POSITION 1 WITH 2 OTHERS IN JC

Africa-Press – Eswatini. A pupil from Siphocosini High School is one of the three who attained position one with an aggregate of 97 in the 2023 JC examinations.

Lindokuhle Sihlongonyane said it’s all God’s grace.

She said she was not expecting to achieve such exceptional results, but had anticipated that she would make it to the list of top 50 achievers.

Sihlongonyane, when interviewed yesterday couldn’t contain her emotions as she shed tears of joy upon hearing the news.

“I can’t believe that I became position one in the whole country. I am a pupil from a rural school and I am being sponsored by the Taiwan children’s fund because my parents cannot afford to pay my school fees.

My father is a pensioner and my mother is just a domestic worker,” she said.

She said she did all of this so that she could pursue her dream of being a cardiologist. She revealed that she was among the top 50 pupils in the 2020 Eswatini Primary Certificate (EPC) exams. However, she was not recognised then.

“Cardiologists specialise on the most important organ of the human body and in that way they save lives. I like the structure of the heart and everything that involves it. What motivated me the most is that I was among the top 50 pupils in the 2020 EPC exams, I wanted to be on top even this time,” she said.

She further said that she was helped by the EPICLASS website in her studying and preparations for exams.

She said the website provide past exam papers and also attends to questions asked by pupils. “I adjusted my study timetable because I would sleep for five hours instead of the eight hours,” she said.

Sihlongonyane further thanked the Taiwan Student Scholarships Fund and her class teacher, who motivated her because she said she could not realise her capabilities.

Her mother, Philile Hlophe added that Sihlongonyane feared God.

She said her daughter was mostly dedicated to God and her studies ever since primary school and she would always come out the best.

“I thank God and teachers who were always there for her. I don’t even have enough words to thank the Taiwan scholarship department for helping us pay for my daughter’s school fees,” she said. Lindelwa’s father, Daniel aged 67, added that his daughter has made him proud. He said they have always known that Lindelwa was a hard worker when it comes to her school work.

“I was not expecting her to be a position one, this is something huge. I am a proud father, I am happy and grateful to God for all this,” he said.

He appreciated her teachers who he said were pushing her to be the best and the Taiwanese for awarding her daughter with the scholarship.

Siphocosini High Headteacher Futhi Hillary said they were happy for Sihlongonyane adding that they had been encouraging Form III and V to do better.“She is the second one in our school to comeout best in the country. The first one was in position eight in the previous JC examination,” she said.
