Africa-Press – Eswatini. As all regions gear up for the resumption of football action in the upcoming 2022/23 season, Lubombo Regional Football Association Chairman Nichodemus ‘Ace’ Mashwama has warned delegates in the region to stop the tendency of bribing referees, thereby influencing the outcome of results inside the field of play.

This according to Mashwama was so serious that some clubs are said to have also threatened to cut short the lives of referees.

“The issue of bribing referees is of major concern to us. Some officials have gone as far as threatening to kill referees when results are not forthcoming. This must stop. We can’t all be winners at the same time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the LRFA recorded 36 cases in the past season.

“The EFA Disciplinary Committee issued guiding procedures on how clubs should handle themselves or how to lodge complaints. These helped to keep the proceedings simple and straightforward.

“As a way of attracting more sponsors, the LRFA has to bring down the number of cases further, the Constitution and regulations should always guide us. Most of the teams who appeared before the DC did not know or read their documents to prepare themselves for their cases. Some do not collect their verdicts once they are ready at the office since they do not have addresses.

Therefore may I encourage clubs to create their own emails,” said General Secretary Simo Sikhondze.
