Africa-Press – Eswatini. Honourable Senator Stukie Motsa has reaffirmed her commitment to protecting the rights and well being of people living with albinism, following the handover of a vital donation of sunscreen to the Albinism Foundation.

Describing the donation as “a lifeline,” Senator Motsa addressed attendees at the official ceremony held at Hilton Garden Inn, where she emphasised the life saving role sunscreen plays in the lives of people with albinism. She stressed that sunscreen is not a luxury, but a shield that allows individuals to live, learn, and work without fear of sunburn, skin damage, or even skin cancer.

Building on her message of health and protection, the Senator praised the collaboration between the Albinism Foundation and the Eswatini Environmental Authority, calling their joint effort a timely and necessary response to a long standing need. Known for her unwavering advocacy for inclusion and disability rights, Senator Motsa highlighted how this donation will help close gaps in access and affordability, particularly for children and families in rural areas who often lack resources.

She further urged stakeholders across government, civil society, and the private sector to build on this momentum by making sunscreen freely available in public clinics and schools. To truly make a lasting difference, Senator Motsa also called for sustained public education campaigns aimed at debunking harmful myths and reducing discrimination against people with albinism.

“This donation sends a powerful message that people with albinism matter, that their health is important, and that no child should suffer simply because of their skin,” she said. “We must walk hand in hand toward a future of dignity, safety, and equality.”

The event brought together disability rights advocates, development partners, and government representatives, all united by a common goal of promoting inclusion and equality. Among those present was Pinky Sithole, Disability and Inclusion Officer at UNDP Eswatini, who echoed the Senator’s sentiments. “At UNDP, we leave no one behind. We support all people with disabilities, including those with albinism, by promoting access, dignity, and opportunity,” she said.

Senator Motsa reaffirmed her office’s ongoing commitment to supporting policies that protect the rights of people with albinism and ensure equitable access to healthcare services. “Together, we protect lives. Together, we uplift communities,” she concluded.
