Africa-Press – Eswatini. Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse(SWAGAA) has applauded Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini for rejecting rape suspect Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo’s new contract.
Reacting to an article published on Wednesday afternoon, the SWAGAA Director said she was happy to see the Prime Minister demonstrating leadership in protection of women rights.
“The Prime Minister is demonstrating leadership and respect for women’s rights and we would like to applaud him for this decision. We were all shocked to see a person facing rape charges being awarded a new contract, this was a very bad precedent and we took it upon ourselves to write to the Prime Minister and the Civil Service Commission(CSC) seeking clarity why he was awarded a new contract. The PM has just restored the victims’ hope for justice by rejecting the contract,” said the SWAGAA when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
It has been reported that, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini allegedly told the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission(CSC) lawyer Simanga Mamba that, “Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo will never set foot inside the Cabinet Offices while he is still the PM”.
Nxumalo is facing rape charges but the CSC renewed his contract triggering tension with the Prime Minister.
