SWALIMO DISMISSES GOVERNMENT NARRATIVE:King Mswati is not just an absolute Monarch but a Supreme ruler

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government’s assertion that Eswatini’s kingship is not an absolute Monarchy, is very crude and borders on untrustworthiness as all evidence is out there to prove that in this country, the King is high above everything, Thantaza Silolo, the Spokesperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) says through a press statement sent.

This comes after Government denied that, eSwatini is an absolute Monarchy.

“In that regard the King is also a supreme authority. It is very concerning that a government that leads a modern society like Swaziland can openly and with a brave face tell lies to international bodies like the EU Parliament, IPU and the USA government that King Mswati 111 leads through democratic institutions and follows due process. One great example is that this government’s Prime Minister is an appointee of king Mswati alone and depends on the king’s approval to remain in office. Cabinet Ministers are all appointed by the king and Members of Parliament were intimidated openly during their swearing in by the Attorney General Sifiso Mashampu Khumalo who doubles as a Traditional Prime Minister to ensure they toe the line in their Parliamentary business and not challenge authority something that cripples their ability to hold the executive accountable. Two former Members of Parliament are languishing in prison and one is in exile simply for representing the nation and calling for relevant reforms to the country’s constitution to allow for accountable and transparent governance”, says the Spokesperson through the press statement.

The political organization further noted how private and public companies presented money to the King during his birthday to beg for relevance.

“We saw just after the king’s birthday on the 20th April, where many public services companies and organisations alongside free enterprises were lining the King’s pockets with hundreds of thousands of Emalangeni as means to beg for relevance with the person of the king. This they did openly whiling failing to provide satisfactory services to the people , the very customers and recipients of their services. We know so very well too that this government is led in a Mafia style, as many things are done under cover and the public is always denied a say in the running of their country’s affairs”, he said.

The SWALIMO Spokesperson said, the fact that the country had to undergo a deadly political unrest “is one major sign that there is no free political process in the Kingdom of eSwatini and engagement is always stifled” through the abuse of the army, police, the courts and prisons.

“We as the people of Swaziland are very concerned that there needs to be continued bloodshed before we can eventually sit down as a people and talk sense to each other in an inclusive political dialogue and that pains us a lot because it may eventually lead to the extinction of institutions that may still be meaningful to many in society because of irresponsible behavior and wrong decision making by those in authority while wanting to baffle the international community and the public so to have another day to preside over this nation wrongfully so”, said the Spokesperson.
