Africa-Press – Eswatini. Businesswoman widow SwaziBet Director Nonjabuliso Ntombi Maziya has been placed under police protection following the alleged attempt on her life which she reported to the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) on Friday.

While travelling with her son, they were allegedly shot at twice, damagaing her vehicle’s windscreen.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Maziya expressed her gratitude to REPS.

“it’s a relief. Iam still trying to wrap my head around the predicament.”

She said she could now sleep peacefully at night knowing that the police were ensuring her safety.

She was adamant that the incident on Friday was an attempted hit.

When she was found at the Mbabane police station where she reported the matter, she informed journalists that she was certain that this attempt was linked to her being part of SwaziBet. This company (SwaziBet) is trading under the name Ebet.

Appointed

She was appointed as the Executor of the estate of her late husband Mduduzi Cyprian Maziya.

The company ownership had been contested by her in-laws after she lodged a legal battle which sought to remove South African co-partners Ioannis Calivitis and Willem Delport.

The matter was withdrawn at the High Court and had been pending before the Gaming Board after it was referred to the minister of tourism and environmental affairs as an appeal.

The businesswoman said she would now have to wait for the police ballistics report on the full knowledge of the attempted assassination.

She had said she could not be certain whether what hit her was a bullet or not.

She said all she heard was a loud sound as if it was a cracking firework.

The incident happened around noon on Friday when she came from the city to consult with her attorney while driving past a strip of the meandering Pine Valley road.

She was seated at the passenger seat with her son driving.

The object which hit the vehicle’s windscreen partly shattered the left side two times.
