Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Taiwan Embassy has donated more than 400 rice packs to residents of Nhlambeni, providing much needed food assistance to vulnerable households and strengthening food security in the area.

The donation was handed over during a community outreach programme, where Taiwan’s Minister to Eswatini Ching Lin Tsuei said access to food remains a fundamental pillar of community wellbeing, particularly in rural areas affected by economic hardship.

“Good health begins with proper nutrition. This donation is meant to support families and ensure that vulnerable households are able to meet their basic food needs,” said Tsuei.

He added that the food assistance reflects Taiwan’s long standing friendship with the people of Eswatini and its commitment to initiatives that uphold dignity and improve livelihoods.

Nhlambeni Member of Parliament Manzi Zwane expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely support for families facing economic challenges.

Many households are struggling to put food on the table due to limited income opportunities, particularly as schools have just reopened and families face added pressure from school related expenses. In this context, food aid plays a critical role in supporting the elderly, children, and other vulnerable groups.

“This donation will ease pressure on many families in our community. We are grateful for the continued support shown by Taiwan,” he said.

The rice donation formed part of broader community support efforts by the Taiwan Embassy, aimed at responding to immediate household needs while reinforcing long term cooperation with local communities.
