Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Taiwan Technical Mission under the Microfinance Project focusing in grassroots women in Eswatini collaborated with Bulembu Challenge Ministries in conducting a home industry workshop.

The workshop is about equipping caregivers of the establishment with knowledge and skills in making products such as wax floor polish, fabric softer and liquid soap respectively.

Bulembu Challenge Ministries is a non-profit organisation serving Jesus Christ through community enterprise and community care.

The organisation is currently taking care of over 400 orphaned and vulnerable children in Eswatini.

Bulembu Challenge Ministries General Manager,Vernon Puttkammer said their primary goal was to offer support and care to the less privileged children.

“The caregivers were trained with the hope that they will later be able to produce and even sell some the products, which will help them sustain them and the households they are responsible for.

“May I also highlight that we are very happy to have partnered with the Taiwan Technical Mission as it has afforded us with the opportunity to capacitate, equip and train the caregivers with home basic skills. We are really grateful and look forward to many more workshops such as this in the future,” he said.

One of the caregivers, Zandile Dlamini said they were very happy with such a pleasant and wonderful opportunity to learn, because initially they did not know how to make the products but now they were able to make them without any supervision.

She said they were happy with the fact that they would no longer have to buy these products as they were able to produce them.

“We use these products daily in our households and knowing how to produce them will be even more beneficial to us. Through this exercise, the women are going to sell their products and get extra income to sustain their families and for that we really appreciate the training,” she said.
