Africa-Press – Eswatini. “Armed or not, nothing could have saved me if the gunmen intended to shoot me together with the unknown men who were shot dead while aboard my car.”
This was said by the taxi man whose clients were shot dead while parked at the Vegas City Guest House in Ezulwini on Monday night. The taxi man said the only thing one could have done was to let anything happen as he had nowhere to hide while his clients were shot at a very close range. “The Bible says at times, God makes us walk on top of scorpions. I understand that it is not always that God protects you from bad situations. At times God allows things to happen for a reason. However, I thank God that the gunmen did not consider concealing evidence by killing me,” he said.
Disturbed
He said he was disturbed by people who sympathised with him while he tried to nurse the situation. On another note, the taxi man revealed during the interview that the man who had initially hired him from The Gables to fetch his friends, who were eventually shot dead, paid him more than he had charged. He stated that the client paid him E300 and an extra E100 just after they had arrived at the guest house where the duo’s lives were ended by the gunmen who were driving in a red Polo Vivo. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said the victims had not yet been identified as investigations were ongoing.
