Africa-Press – Eswatini. Allow me to first thank the King, for being ever so mindful of us, his people, by bringing government services closer to the people, Bayethe wena Waphakathi! Considering the high cost of living nowadays, it is not worth taking a bus trip to any place unless you really have to. But what if it has to be done? Let’s say Buhle has to travel from Mananga to Mbabane and back to register for a marriage certificate; it would cost him E? But today, because government services have come to where Buhle is, he can now make a date to go to his inkhundla and register for a marriage certificate there, minus the cost of bus fare. Now, there are government services that are needed daily by people; like the protection of human lives and property. Every day we live and make a living in a world that is slowly becoming more and more unsafe.
Criminal
Criminal activity has become a norm in our societies; a house robbery here, a murder at a drinking spot there. All criminal activity is supposed to be reported and attended to by the necessary authorities. Having a police station/post nearby keeps citizens at ease, and criminals at bay. But what about a place where there is no police station nearby; a place where the roads are so unattended such that its potholes are as big as a human head? How quickly can you get help, how safe are you and your property? This is an SOS call to whomever it may concern. I am from Sigombeni Magomini, under the Nkomiyahlaba Constituency. We are really grateful for all what government and other stakeholders do for the people and we also take into consideration the economic factor in the country. We ask in the name of love, can we please have a police station at Sigombeni. For years this place has had many cases of criminal activity, stabbings, robberies, livestock theft and many other reported cases. Recently, cases of copper wire theft have emerged. It is not really safe living here, knowing that your house can be broken into and help can only come in the morning. What if a person is stabbed in the middle of the night?
Help
How fast can help come from Sigodvweni Police Station in Matsapha? Should we be subjected to death every day of our lives because criminals know help is too far? Again I plead, can we please have a police station at Sigombeni! Summer rains have come, it doesn’t rain but pours at Sigombeni. The rain that is supposed to bring new life can bring death instead; I say this not to sound sarcastic. Our roads are not in a good state, they are very slippery when it rains; even our buses abandon them at times. Better safe than sorry, we totally understand. I conclude by thanking the necessary stakeholders for taking into consideration this plea.
Scared citizen
NOTE: Dear Scared citizen, thank you for using this platform to voice out your concerns. In the letter you have not stated the steps you have taken to bring the two matters to the relevant authorities. However, something must have prompted you to write this letter and we must say it came at the right time as we are freshly from the elections and have new people in office who are eager to get things done. Therefore, on the roads issue, please do approach the indvuna yenkhundla of your area, who will forward the matter to the relevant authorities. On the police station/post issue, you can approach the police information and communications office, whose number you can get from any police station near you. The communications office is also tasked with engaging members of the public among its other duties, so do not fear engaging them.
