Africa-Press – Eswatini. EmaSwati who will be travelling with minors to Mozambique will now be required to provide consent letters and birth certificates for children to border officials.

Ministry of Home Affair’s Communications Officer Mlandvo Dlamini, informed all cross-border travellers, particularly those intending to visit the Republic of Mozambique, of the new travel requirements for individuals travelling with children below 18 years of age. “Effective immediately, adults travelling with children to the Republic of Mozambique are required to produce a consent letter or affidavit from the biological parents of the minors, authorising them to cross the border into the country. This documentation is a mandatory requirement and must be presented to immigration authorities upon entry into Mozambique,” he said.

Affidavit

In addition to the consent letter or affidavit, Dlamini advised biological parents to carry the birth certificate of the accompanying child as proof of parentage. These new requirements have been implemented by the Republic of Mozambique in an effort to enhance child safety and prevent child trafficking across its borders. He emphasised that it was important for all travellers to be aware of, and to comply with these regulations to ensure smooth and hassle-free entry into Mozambique.

He urged travellers to familiarise themselves with the new requirements and to ensure that they had the necessary documentation in place before embarking on their journey, to avoid any inconvenience at the border. “We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter and remain committed to facilitating safe and lawful travel for all individuals crossing international borders,” he added.
