Africa-Press – Eswatini. The winds of change are blowing.
This is the story of Manzini Wanderers, who have reportedly offered their Head Coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe the Technical Director (TD) role. It was reported that the former Mbabane Swallows seasoned gaffer’s future was uncertain. The veteran coach rejoined the maroon and white hub giants towards the end of last season, when they were fighting the dreaded relegation axe from MTN National First Division (NFD) outfit, Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows. He proved to be the ‘Messiah’ as he saved the ‘Weslians’ from being relegated. The 70-year-old started the new season with not so convincing results, as he is yet to record a win in the four games they have played so far. “The Managing Committee (MC) is divided on this matter, as some do not want Nyanga to have control over the team. Their philosophy differs from that of the coach, who wants to bring in new talent, while they believe that experienced players are still valuable to the team,” the source alleged when quoted last week.

According to a well-placed source within the team, the oldest coach in the league has been offered a TD role in the team, which he has accepted. “The MC met with the coach and informed him that the club was planning to bring in a new coach from outside the country to take charge of the technical team. They also offered him a new role as technical director, which he graciously accepted without hesitation,” the source said. The source went on to share with this publication that the team was looking for a new coach outside the country. “We are interested in a coach from countries like Zimbabwe, as we believe they have great coaches. We want someone talented, with a deep understanding of the team’s needs, to help us return to our glory days,” revealed the source.
