Those were the words of MTN Eswatini Chief Executive Officer, Wandile Mtshali, as he officially unveiled a groundbreaking E22.5 million sponsorship package for the MTN Premier League. The sponsorship, which runs for three years, was announced at a colorful ceremony held today at Mahlalekhukwini House, MTN Golf Park in Ezulwini.
The multi-million Emalangeni deal underscores MTN’s long-standing commitment to uplifting football in Eswatini. Mtshali emphasized that the investment was not only about football but about sustaining the pride, unity, and identity of the nation.
“Football is a sport that has brought Emaswati together across all the regions of the country and it has built relationships amongst Emaswati because when they go to the stadiums they meet people from across the Kingdom. ” Emphasized Mntshali.
The announcement was warmly received by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) officials, club representatives, and football supporters who filled the event with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
PLE Chairman expressed deep gratitude to MTN for its continued partnership, noting that the sponsorship would go a long way in professionalizing the league and strengthening the foundation of local football.
“We are also humbled and excited in equal measure at the continued cooperation we are receiving from our main sponsor MTN with regards to advancing the course of PLE as a brand.We note with pride,how ontop of sponsoring the Premier League since 2002. They have extended their gesture towards the National First Division League which is a growing force on its own.” Said Mamba.
The E22.5 million sponsorship reaffirms MTN’s position as one of the biggest corporate supporters of sports in Eswatini and sets the stage for what promises to be one of the most competitive and entertaining football seasons yet.
