Africa-Press – Gambia. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia officially opened its 47th annual Jalsa Salana on Friday at Nusrat Senior Secondary School, bringing together a large assembly of members from across the country.

The three-day convention, dedicated to spiritual upliftment, peace, unity, and moral development, attracted several high-profile guests, including Vice President Muhammed B.S. Jallow, cabinet ministers, National Assembly Members, government officials, and other dignitaries.

Delivering the keynote address, Vice President Jallow lauded the Jama’at’s contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and information technology. He commended the Jama’at for its commitment to supporting the underprivileged and for its continued collaboration with the government.

“Your development in education, we have seen Nusrat High School is able to set standards in this country, now every good student wants to come to Nusrat High School and I think that is something we need to applaud. From the beginning, The Ahmadiya Muslim Jama’at has been involved in health particularly the Ahmadiya Dental Hospital has been the number,” He Said.

The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, expressed gratitude to the government for its ongoing support and emphasized the importance of the Jalsa Salana in strengthening unity and spiritual growth within the community.

“The Theme is this year’s Jalsa Salana, is vital for the foundation on which the Jama’t is established, to be highlighted and clearly communicated for the people to understand its purpose. Over 700 years ago our dear and beloved mastered the Holy prophet Muhammad Mustapha (SAW) prophecy about the coming of the promised reformer Imam Mahdi at later dates. The mission of Imam Mahdi is to revive Islam and return it back to its true teachings and practices as demonstrated by the holy Prophet,” He Said.

Also speaking at the event, National Assembly Member Sulayman Saho praised the Jama’at for its role in promoting peace and fostering development within his constituency.

“Ahmadiya Muslim Jama’at has been living in my community for decades, we were born and we saw them practicing the religion and we see them as a religious sect and they are there to promote the values of our religion. When it comes to development, Ahmadiya Muslim Jama’at has been supporting our communities to provide them with good, clean drinking water and they have been supporting them in access to electricity and education,” Saho remarked.
