Africa-Press – Ghana. The Bukom Arena in Accra will host the 2025 Global Warrior Champions Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event on Friday, September 19, 2025, and it promises to be an exciting night and the battle for survival.
Ghana’s Emmanuel Lamptey would face Nigeria’s Ben Bazi in the night’s main event, a middleweight bout that promises to be exciting as both boxers compete for bragging rights.
Speaking at the media launch in Accra, Mr Jeffery Taylor, President of the Mixed Martial Arts Association of Ghana, stated that the event would highlight local talent as they compete against some of the greatest from across the globe.
“The MMA sport is one of the fastest growing in the world and is getting popular, so this event is aimed at promoting our local talent, especially for those who don’t have the chance to compete around the world.
“Our last event brought together about seven countries, and we are looking to expand it so that it would become one of the biggest MMA events on the continent and around the world,” he said.
Mr Taylor was grateful to major sponsor Decathlon for supporting the event while urging other sponsors to come on board to promote the sport.
Mr Thompson Agbodo, the Events Manager at Decathlon, said supporting this MMA event was part of increasing awareness of the sport, as they deal in equipment that helps to make the sport a safe one for all.
He was confident about a successful show, considering how highly patronised the previous event was, and thanked organisers for the hard work in popularising the sport.
“We expect a spectacular show at the Bukom Arena, and we look forward to more fruitful partnerships with the leaders of the MMA sport in Ghana,” he said.
