Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ada West District Assembly has announced a total budget allocation of GH₵30,907,105.74 for the 2026 fiscal year under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), with key investments targeting education, health, sanitation, and infrastructure.

Presenting the budget during the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Fourth Assembly at Sege, Mr. Modjifatanihu Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, the Ada West District Chief Executive (DCE), said the spending plan was designed to accelerate growth and improve living conditions across the district.

A total of GH₵8,120,204.31 representing 25 percent of the district’s total allocation, has been earmarked for the government’s flagship projects, including the construction of a 24-hour economic market at Sege, which is expected to boost local trade and employment opportunities in line with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.

In the health sector, an estimated GH₵3,728,427.00 has been allocated for the construction and furnishing of CHPS compounds at Wokumagbe, Amuyawkope, and Addokope, as well as the renovation of the Bornikope Health Centre and the construction of incinerators at Anyamam and Sege.

The education sector will receive GH₵2,648,081.72, covering the construction of a 3-unit classroom block at Bornikope, a KG block at Goi-Kposem, a 6-unit classroom block at Adekyekope, and the renovation of a JHS block at Mahem, along with the procurement of furniture for schools.

For water projects, a total of GH₵2,148,081.78 has been set aside for water extensions to new communities and the procurement of 10 water storage tanks to improve access to safe drinking water.

In the area of environmental sanitation, GH₵2,448,081.72 will be used for refuse evacuation, fumigation exercises, toilet renovations, and the purchase of land for a refuse dump site at Sege.

The administration sector is expected to utilise GH₵1,224,040.24 for the rehabilitation of office buildings, procurement of office equipment, capacity-building workshops, and support for statutory meetings and monitoring activities.

An additional GH₵2,900,000.00 has been budgeted for school furniture, including the procurement of over 3,000 dual desks, 500 tables and chairs for kindergartens, and 600 tables and chairs for teachers.

Finally, GH₵6,142,107.25 has been allocated for legacy and ongoing projects, such as the completion of staff bungalows and 10-seater toilet facilities at Sege, Anyamam, and other communities, as well as the construction of the Akplabanya Health Centre (Phase I).

Mr. Mills-Nkrumah said the assembly would prioritise completing existing projects while ensuring equitable distribution of new ones across all electoral areas.

“Our focus is to deliver visible and lasting improvements in education, health, sanitation, and economic development. Every cedi spent must reflect the needs and aspirations of our people,” he stated.

He urged all stakeholders, including assembly members and community leaders, to support the implementation of the projects to ensure transparency, efficiency, and value for money.
