Africa-Press – Ghana. Dr Rachel Naa-Du Laryea, a United States-based academic and author, has paid a courtesy call on Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, at his Palace in Accra.
The visit, aimed at strengthening links between global Black scholarship and traditional African leadership, forms part of a broader mission to advance inclusive wealth creation and Black economic empowerment globally.
It also marked the beginning of a collaborative engagement between the Office of the Ga Mantse and Dr Laryea in an advocacy drive for Black economic empowerment.
During the visit, Dr Laryea presented a copy of her newly published book, Black Capitalists, to the Ga Mantse, highlighting the continuous relevance of indigenous institutions in shaping modern economic discourse and the intersection of culture, history and wealth creation.
She also held engagements with Nii Ayikoi Otoo, President of the GaDangme Council and a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, where she reaffirmed her commitment to GaDangme issues and broader African economic advancement.
Dr Laryea, who held discussions with Mr Otoo on economic empowerment, ownership and sustainable development within the GaDangme community and beyond, also presented a copy of her book to him.
She noted that her advocacy focuses on linking diaspora expertise to local development through research-informed policy engagement, entrepreneurship and strategic investment.
Her book, which examines Black economic participation across Africa and the diaspora, challenges conventional assumptions about capitalism and explores whether wealth can be built ethically while advancing social good and strengthening communities.
In his remarks, Mr Otoo commended Dr Laryea for her dedication to promoting economic empowerment through scholarship and advocacy, and stressed the importance of initiatives that foster long-term prosperity by strengthening leadership, ownership and opportunity across institutions and enterprises.
Dr Laryea, who is also an asset and wealth researcher at JPMorgan Chase, is expected to continue engagements with traditional leaders, policymakers and business stakeholders as part of her wider mission to advance inclusive wealth creation and Black economic empowerment globally.
She holds two doctoral degrees and brings together academic rigour and professional expertise in her work.
