Ghana Protests Ill Treatment of Nationals at Airport

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Government of Ghana has expressed strong protest over what it described as the humiliating and inhumane treatment of Ghanaian travellers by Israeli authorities at the Ben Gurion International Airport.

The Government said it was appalled by the deliberate targeting of Ghanaian nationals since Sunday, December 7, 2025, when seven travellers, including four Members of Parliament attending the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference in Tel Aviv, were detained without justifiable cause.

They were released only after more than five hours of diplomatic intervention.

The remaining three Ghanaian travellers were deported on the next available flight and have since returned home.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana finds the actions of the Israeli authorities unfair and provocative.

It noted that the treatment was inconsistent with the long-standing cordial relations between the two countries, spanning more than six decades.

The Government further rejected claims by Israel that the alleged non-cooperation of Ghana’s Embassy in Tel Aviv influenced the deportations.

It described the justification as untenable and insisting that Ghana’s Mission had complied with international law at all stages.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to summon officials of the Israeli Embassy in Accra to convey Ghana’s displeasure.
