Africa-Press – Ghana. A contingent of 70 athletes and officials have left Ghana for Angola to take part in the 2025 African Youth Games.

The group, representing 15 sporting disciplines, is set to compete with top youth athletes from across the continent.

Scheduled for December 10–20, 2025, the Games would feature Ghanaian competitors aged 14–17, all striving to raise the flag of Ghana high as they pursue success on the continental stage. According to Mr Richard Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), the trip to Luanda reflects the strong collaboration between the Sports Ministry and the GOC.

“Our shared goal is to provide our talented youth with the best opportunities for international exposure and growth. We are investing in their future by sending a fully supported team that is ready to compete at the highest level,” he said in a statement.

The GOC also acknowledged the Minister of Sports and Recreation and the Government of Ghana for their commitment to advancing sports development.

Chef de Mission Kamal Sulley is leading Team Ghana who would participate in several disciplines including judo, basketball, cycling, tennis, and weightlifting.
