Africa-Press – Ghana. The Regent of Gomoa Awomerow, Nana Kobena Omano I, has commended the Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempon Nyanful Krampah XI for his numerous supports towards education, construction of modern community center and other developmental projects.
The Regent said the Paramount Chief’s unwavering assistance and prudent advice had raised the confidence of the chiefs, Queen mothers, heads of family and the entire residents to continue with self-help projects being undertaken to give their town a facelift.
The Regent made the commendation at a durbar to climax the week-long annual Akwambo festival of the chiefs and people of Awomerow in the Gomoa Central District of the Central region.
He expressed optimism that the Omanhen’s support would help facilitate the completion of the center in 2026.
The Regent also praised the youth of the town for their “communal and can do it spirit’’ that had contributed to the growth of Gomoa Awomerow.
He said funds to be raised in the 2026 festival would be used to finance ongoing self-help developmental projects initiated by the chiefs and people to enhance the living standards of the residents.
Mr Isaac Taylor, the 2026 Akwambo festival planning committee chairman, commended the youth for their active participation and payment of contributions towards the festival.
Mr Taylor expressed concern of lack of residential accommodation for teachers, thus affecting the performance of the pupils and students in the town.
The Chairman hinted that a strategic plan had therefore been put in place to raise funds to construct teachers’ bungalows to accommodate those who commute from Agona Swedru and Winneba- Junction to schools in the town.
The Akwambo planning Committee Chairman took the opportunity to appeal to the Gomoa Central District Assembly, financial institutions, companies and residents of Awomerow to put up teachers’ bungalows.
He admonished the youth in the town to eschew hard drugs and other lifestyles that could affect their future because every vibrant town had the youth as its foundation.
He further extended gratitude to Mr Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, for his immense contribution to development projects in the town since his election in 2024.
Mr Taylor called on citizens living in the urban areas to visit home regularly and support self-help projects initiated to give a decent facelift to the town.
