Africa-Press – Ghana. The government has appealed to residents of Nkwanta South to seek peaceful resolution to their differences.
The call was made during his “Thank You Tour’ to the Oti Region, where President Mahama emphasized the importance of peace and unity in the area.
President Mahama’s appeal aimed at promoting a peaceful environment, which is essential for the region’s development.
He said the government was committed to addressing the needs of the people and promoting economic growth, but this could only be achieved in a peaceful and stable environment.
He emphasized that the people should be working together to fight for essential amenities such as hospitals, schools and infrastructure, rather than engaging in conflicts that harmed each other.
President Mahama stressed that unity and cooperation were crucial for the region’s progress and urged the residents to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of development and prosperity.
He condemned the recent tribal tensions that escalated in Nkwanta township, resulting in the death of a final year student of Nkwanta Senior High School, who was killed by a stray bullet.
He urged them to prioritize development over conflict, emphasizing that the region’s focus should be on building projects and jobs for the youths.
He called on the people to redirect their energy towards fighting poverty rather than engaging in conflicts with one another.
“Let’s be fighting for poverty and not ourselves,” Mahama said, urging residents to prioritize collective progress over individual interests.
