Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has pledged his commitment to bring the needed transformation and progress in Kumasi.

He also plans to carry out the functions of Assembly with excellence, dedication and result driven approach.

Mr. Boadi told the Ghana News Agency after the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly in Kumasi that, issues such as security and governance, finance and revenue, environmental sanitation, disaster management and provision of quality health services, were among his top priorities.

He said the Kumasi Metropolis had experienced significant peace and security since he assumed office.

This, he said, was largely due to his directives to ensure adequate police patrol with the help of other security services.

He said the persistence disregard for traffic regulations in the Metropolis, which had gradually become a habit for most vehicle users, was being dealt with.

This, he said, was to ensure smooth vehicular movement and secure the safety of pedestrians.

He noted that the Assembly was working to enact bye–laws that would ensure that traders installed smoke detectors in their shops to promote fire safety in markets and business areas.

This, according to him, would be a precondition for trading in the business centre.

Mr Boadi said the Assembly was strengthening public engagement and enhancing its visibility across both the traditional and digital media.

“We have become more visible, more responsive and more proactive in our communication”, he stated

He promised to rebrand the Assembly and develop the various units by using digital communication and the approved KMA newsletter.

The Mayor said the legal department had been tasked to check and monitor all contracts of the Assembly.

On sanitation and waste management, he said the Assembly was expected to promote sustainable, environmentally sound and cost-effective waste management practices.

The Assembly had, therefore, engaged some stakeholders to help address this sustainably, to ensure a clean environment, especially in the central business district.
