Africa-Press – Ghana. The National Sports College (NSC) has introduced its first-ever Strength and Power Training, aiming to collaborate with leading universities to elevate sports training and performance standards nationwide.

The milestone also underscores the college’s commitment to offering structured programs that strengthen technical skills, refine coaching methods, and improve athlete management.

Mr. Bawah Fuseini, Director General of the National Sports College speaking at the launch of the three-day course said it focused on acquiring coaches with the needed skills to build athlete readiness from warm-ups to peak performances.

He said this was the first time the college had partnered with the Ghana Weightlifting Federation to organize the course which had been in the pipeline for several months.

He expressed his excitement at the institution’s remarkable transformation, marked by the launch of major courses in the sports ecosystem.

Mr. Bawah revealed that the National Sports College is actively exploring a partnership with Louisiana State University to establish an exchange programme.

The Louisiana State University, in the United States of America is widely known for its championship-winning athletic programs, with focus in sports science, coaching education, athlete development, and human performance research.

He encouraged the participants to fully engage with the course, noting that it marked the beginning of a series of high-profile programs yet to be introduced.

Dr. Kyle Pierce, lead facilitator and senior professor from the Louisiana State University expressed delight at the participants’ enthusiasm, calling it a positive step towards future achievements.

“My passion is coaching education. There is nothing more than the work of coaches. They help athletes get from one place to another whereas developing their skills,” he noted.

He commended the Director General and the senior staff for their commitment towards the development of sports in Ghana.

The course, which is supposed to end on Wednesday featured over 30 coaches drawn from various football clubs and national federations.

Present at the launch were Mr. Collins Adu Eduafo, Technical Director, National Sports College, Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng, former Technical Director, Ghana Football Association and other senior members.
