Ghana to Compete in 15 Disciplines at 2025 Games

Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana’s contingent are primed for a medal hunt in 15 disciplines at the 2025 Africa Youth Games scheduled for December 10 to 20.

About 70 athletes and coaches departed Accra on Wednesday, carrying Ghana’s sporting hopes as they prepare to face the continent’s best talents in Angola.

Ghana is expected to compete in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Fencing, Golf, Judo, Karate, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, and Weightlifting.

Mr. Richard Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, in a statement said the aim of the movement is intended to give young talents the opportunities they need to advance their sporting careers.

“Our shared goal is to provide our talented youth with the best opportunities for international exposure and growth.

We are investing in their future by sending a fully supported team that is ready to compete at the highest level.”

He expressed appreciation to Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, and the Government for backing the team’s participation in the competition.

He urged Ghanaians to throw their support behind the team as they strive to lift the nation’s flag high in Angola.

The African Youth Games is a major multi-sport competition organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

The Games serve as a vital continental stepping stone for young athletes, promoting Olympic values and preparing them for major international events, including the Youth Olympic Games.
