Africa-Press – Ghana. President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, signed the book of condolence opened in honour of the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who died on October 23, at the age of 76.

The President, who was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Lordina Mahama and other Government officials, were at the residence of the late former First Lady to commiserate with the Agyeman-Rawlings family in Accra.

President Mahama in his written message in the book of condolences said: “Ghana is proud of your achievements in your 19 solid years as First Lady and mother of the nation. While we are all saddened by your passing, we celebrate your life.

“It’s been unsettling that you passed when we were just about planning the fifth anniversary and funeral rites for our former President Jerry John Rawlings, your husband. You have fought a good fight and deserve a peaceful rest.”

The late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings, are survived by their four adult children – Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, who is the current Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle Constituency, Greater Accra Region Yaa Asantewaa, Amina, and Kimathi; and grandchildren.
