UNESCO Recognizes Ghana'S Highlife Music and Dance

Africa-Press – Ghana. UNESCO‘s Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee 2025 has today, December 10, 2025, designated Ghana’s highlife music and dance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The December 10 session of the Committee was chaired by Mr Vishal V. Sharma, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of India to UNESCO.

The United Nations in Ghana, announcing the decision on its Facebook page, acknowledged some key stakeholders for the achievement: “Huge thanks to @UnescoGhana, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and the Ghana Folklore Board for making this historic milestone possible.”
