Omolle Aims for Bigger Role as Tusker Steadies League

Africa-Press – Kenya. After scoring his first goal of the 2025/26 SportPesa Premier League campaign, Tusker FC winger Thomas Omolle believes the confidence he gained will help push the brewers towards their season targets.

Omolle was on the scoresheet during Tusker’s narrow 1–0 victory over league debutants Mara Sugar last weekend, tucking home the decisive strike in the 15th minute to hand Charles Okere’s men a much-needed lift.

The winger revealed he has been putting in extra hours on the training ground to sharpen his finishing. “It was a huge delight to score and help the team win. I’ve been working hard to get that goal, and finally getting it is a massive boost for my confidence,” he said.

His strike could not have come at a better time as Tusker were reeling from a two-game losing streak. They had fallen 2–1 to Kenya Police courtesy of Eric Zakayo and David Simiyu, before being edged 1–0 by defending champions Gor Mahia.

The sluggish run has left the brewers with just four wins from their opening 11 league fixtures.Their triumphs have come against Murang’a Seal (1–0), Kariobangi Sharks (2–1), Bidco United (1–0) and last weekend’s victory over Mara Sugar.

They have picked up three draws: a goalless stalemate with Mathare United and identical 1–1 draws with Shabana and Kakamega Homeboyz, while defeats have come against KCB (2–0), Posta Rangers (2–1), Kenya Police and Gor Mahia.

Tusker currently sit sixth on the log with 15 points. Omolle, now full of belief, is hungry for more. “This season, my target was to add goals and assists to my game. Last season I didn’t record as much, so I’ve been ambitious to improve,” he noted.

He added that he has been paying closer attention to his deliveries and end product in training, hoping the numbers will keep rising.

“As a forward, you’re measured by goals and assists. I want to keep improving, keep scoring and keep assisting because that’s what the team needs from me. Of course, there’s still a lot to work on, but I’m determined to deliver more.”

Tusker’s next assignment pits them against eighth-placed Ulinzi Stars on Saturday at St Sebastian Park. Ulinzi are unbeaten in their last three matches, claiming back-to-back victories over APS Bomet (1–0) and Sofapaka (3–1), before forcing a 1–1 draw against Bandari last weekend.

Tusker, however, hold the psychological edge from previous season. The first leg ended in a 1–1 stalemate, but the Brewers nicked the reverse fixture 1–0, thanks to a Chrispine Erambo strike.
