Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Vice President Moody Awori has said both the government side and the opposition must now work towards bettering the lives of Kenyans. Awori said the time for politicking is over and urged the leadership of the country to work for Kenyans.

He said the country needs a leadership that is focused on working together to find solutions to the many challenges facing Kenya. Awori called out leaders who are “creating sideshows to distract the focus of government to deliver on its pledges.”

“One thing we emphasised is that Kenya Kwanza should deliver on its manifesto. I am delighted to see the Kenya Kwanza administration following the direction it promised Kenyans. We need to foster unity and at the same time root together and ensure that the Constitution is respected,” he stated.

Awori made the remarks when he hosted the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at his Nairobi home. The two leaders had a lengthy discussion on key areas of national interest and also took time to reflect on what is happening globally.

“We have discussed quite a number of things about the country and a number of international matters. I am so delighted that I have gained a lot of insight from his perspective on what we should do and what we should focus on as a country, moving forward,” said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi added that they had a candid talk on how to foster national unity and sustainable cohesion. He emphasised the need for leaders to be at the forefront of preaching peace and unity.

The two also agreed that the Kenya Kwanza government should focus on delivering on its campaign manifesto and promises. “In our talks, Mzee has emphasised a lot on the need to be united and the need to remain focused,” the Prime Cabinet Secretary said. Mudavadi said it was a great pleasure to catch up with Awori, who was Vice President in the late President Mwai Kibaki’s administration.
