Africa-Press – Kenya. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has denied claims that he called for a truce between President William Ruto and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga. Through his Twitter account, Sakaja instead stated that he asked for a discussion between the two leaders, as everyone should be heard.
“Not accurate. I have not asked for a handshake but a discussion….We have only one Kenya. No annex,” he tweeted. Sakaja said some few individuals were misleading the President by telling him not to engage the opposition.

Speaking during a Church service in Nairobi on Sunday, the first time governor said no one wants a handshake or nusu mkate, but all leaders must be acknowledged.
“The economy is bad enough and protests will further hurt Kenyans, there is nothing that can’t be sorted after talks… Let’s not plunge the country into a crisis,” he said.
The governor said President Ruto is a man full of wisdom and he will do the right thing. He insisted that nothing can’t be solved when people sit and talk.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei told him off over the statements, saying they cannot allow the former Prime Minister anywhere near the President. He told Sakaja to instead go for the handshake with Raila himself.
“Salaaale! Sakaja Johnson on this you are wrong, Tinga (Raila Odinga) shall not be near our beloved President Ruto. You can go ahead and do handshake/hand cheque with Tinga alone the way you have done with Azimio-Oka remnants in Kanairo (Nairobi),” he said.
