Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Kenya Women Premier League side Eldoret Falcons battle University of Eldoret in a North Rift derby as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup kicks off in the Round of 32 on Saturday.
Both coaches admit it will be a tricky affair in their quest for bragging rights especially now that the players know each. Falcons coach Michael Wachira said: “We have had good training and we hope that our efforts will be repaid. This is a derby and a derby winner will always be respected.”
However, Wachira registered concerns over some of their key players, who are nursing injuries — hoping that they will be fine come Saturday. “Our target this season is to reach the semifinals or even the final. We shall not underrate our opponents. My only wish is to have our sidelined players back for the encounter,” added Wachira.
Falcons are currently in Division One League Zone ‘B’ while Josphat Pilishi’s UoE will be playing in the upcoming Regional League. Champions Ulinzi Starlets start their title defence against Gusii Starlets at Gusii Stadium.
Ulinzi won the inaugural trophy in October 2021 after beating Vihiga Queens 2-1 in the final played at the ASK showground, Nakuru. FKF Women’s Cup Round of 32 fixtures
