Africa-Press – Kenya. The Media Council of Kenya has announced that it will conduct training on election reporting.

They have constituted a team of experts to develop a manual that will be used to train journalists on guidelines for covering the 2022 General Election.

MCK chief executive David Omwoyo said that the manual is aimed at harmonising the training of journalists on election reporting across the country and ensuring quality and expertise on the work.

“The council and media stakeholders will conduct countrywide training and capacity building for journalists on media practitioners on the elections reporting guidelines,” he said.

The team is drawn from newsrooms, industry, highly experienced journalists, editors and media trainers and is expected to deliver quality content.

The experienced media experts will spearhead harmonised training for the journalists who will be at the forefront during the electioneering period.

In September last year, MCK rolled out 2022 Guidelines on Elections Coverage to be used in the media industry.

The guidelines were endorsed by 23 key media players, including media associations, media houses, media training institutions and Government agencies involved in elections.
