Africa-Press – Kenya. According to Naivas, the ongoing promotion features a total of six cars, 45 motorcycles and thousands of vouchers, alongside traditional festive giveaways such as goats and capons.Naivas Supermarket has shifted the focus of its long-running Kikwetu festive promotion from traditional giveaways such as goats and shopping vouchers to higher-value assets, including cars and motorcycles, reflecting changing consumer needs and economic pressures.
At a logbook handover ceremony held at its head office, the retailer officially transferred ownership of a car and 10 motorcycles to winners of the latest promotion phase.
The event marked a clear shift from earlier editions of Kikwetu, which were largely associated with seasonal rewards and small household prizes to now income generating assets for winners.
The campaign, branded Kikwetu, was open to shoppers nationwide and included prizes ranging from vehicles to household appliances, electronics and shopping vouchers.
According to Naivas, the ongoing promotion features a total of six cars, 45 motorcycles and thousands of vouchers, alongside traditional festive giveaways such as goats and capons.
“Today is more than a handover. It is a celebration of how far we’ve come – together,” said Mr. Andreas Von Paleske, the Naivas CEO.
“Naivas began as a small, homegrown store in Nakuru, built on trust, hard work, and a simple promise to Save You Money. Today, we stand as Kenya’s leading retailer – rooted in community, driven by people, and powered by a shared belief that progress is best when it’s shared.”
The retailer said the program was designed to boost customer participation and shopping volumes during the peak end-year period.
Chief executive Andreas von Paleske said the promotion reflects the company’s long-standing engagement with consumers since its establishment more than three decades ago, noting that customer-driven campaigns remain central to Naivas’ growth strategy.
Marketing head Florence Saronge said the inclusion of vehicles and durable household goods was intended to reflect changing consumer needs, particularly among shoppers who rely on motorcycles and cars for income-generating activities.
“Beyond our legendary goats and capons, we wanted to transform lives in real, lasting ways. A motorbike can power a livelihood. A car can begin a new chapter. Electronics bring homes closer to possibility. Vouchers change what tomorrow looks like. That is the spirit of Kikwetu,” said Saronge.
Some of the winners said the promotion process was straightforward and transparent, citing clear communication on entry requirements and prize verification.
Naivas has continued to expand its store network across the country amid rising competition in Kenya’s retail sector, where loyalty promotions and price incentives have become key tools for attracting and retaining customers.
