Africa-Press – Kenya. Allan Oyende, Gitonga Nderitu and Michael Gongolo are expected to perform well in the National Scrabble Championships planned for next weekend in Nairobi
The tournament has attracted top Kenyan players across the country and the event is expected to be preceded by elections on Sunday. Gongola leads the Kenya trio with 3 wins out of 12 this year, followed by veteran Gitonga, who will be seeking to topple the former.
The tournament will feature three divisions and it is expected to be tough if history is anything to go by. The event organizer Mark Sibuor said they expect the event to attract a high turnout going by the past events. Sibuor said, “We have lots of goodies lined up for this event, and we want to end the year with a bang.”
Trademark Hotel and Village Market will be home to close to 80 players this weekend as they clash for the last title of 2022. The tournament is part of the build-up ahead of the East and Central Africa Scrabble Association.
