Council urges patients to report complaints

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy Council (LMDPC) says it has observed with concern the growing the number of complaints from Basotho regarding unsatisfactory or unprofessional treatment received from healthcare professionals across the country.

In a weekend statement, LMDPC empathised with the frustrations expressed by the public, adding that it has come to its attention that many people are unaware of appropriate channels for reporting such incidents.

Instead of formally submitting complaints to the Council, some patients turn to social media to voice their grievances.

“Unfortunately, while these platforms may offer a space for emotional expression, they do not facilitate action or accountability.

“LMDPC would like to reaffirm its mandate to protect the public by regulating the conduct of its registrants in Lesotho.

“We urge the public to bring forward any case of misconduct, negligence, or unethical behaviour directly to the Council,” the LMDPC urged.
