Africa-Press – Lesotho. Former Zimbabwean international Abbas Amidu, who played for Kaizer Chiefs and the Black Leopards, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by the courts in his country.

Known for his time with Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa, the former striker saw his fate change during a major police check. The footballer was stopped near the town of Kwekwe in Zimbabwe.

Authorities discovered a large quantity of cannabis in his vehicle, with an estimated street value of $75,000.

This 12-year prison sentence for drug trafficking brings a brutal end to the former Warriors player’s career.

At 35, the man who played in the South African and Saudi Arabian leagues will have to serve his sentence in a Zimbabwean prison.
