Africa-PressLesotho. In commemoration and celebration of World Habitat Day Habitat for Humanity Lesotho will build two-bedroom houses for two families in Kolonyama Ha-moramang.

With a special partnership between Habitat and local volunteers from various parts of Lesotho, such as the Student Enterprise Community Hand (SECH) which includes girls and boys from Lerotholi Polytechnic School, and the Ha-moramang community.

In an exclusive interview with Voice of the Nation, Mxolisi Maliwa, a student at Fokothi School, explained that it was their first time helping each other with construction.

They say that as an organization they have helped each other with many of the skills they have but this one is the first one to build. Maliwa also pointed out that the challenge of safe housing is still growing in the country.

“Most of the homeless people are victims of disputes over property rights, and they are left with nothing,” he said. Meanwhile, Habitat for Humanity Lesotho and its partners believe that housing is a fundamental human right.

In line with the commitment to address the housing crisis in Lesotho over the past 18 years, they will be building the family of Ms ‘Mamoiketsi Ntsane and Mr Motsie Ramabeta.

Speaking on behalf of Habitat Lesotho, Ms Lerato Rammile explained that Habitat selects people who are building houses in a transparent and unassuming manner, by being a local community that selects vulnerable people to get housing.

“In particular, we help OVC, the elderly and the elderly, the elderly and the infirm, the disabled, and the youth according to the community’s choice.

Mr Motsie Ramabeta, 46, who will also be building a house, thanked the people of Ha-moramang and Habitat Lesotho directly as he will find a comfortable place to live where he and his family will live.
