Africa-Press – Lesotho. As part of its Corporate Social Investment, the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) through its Stakeholders Committee visited St Paul for Deaf School in Leribe to donate food parcels bringing relief, dignity and hope to 160 children.
The association’s Communications and Media Manager, Mr. Mikia Kalati the St. Paul School for Deaf in Hlotse, Leribe is a special school for deaf children, those with intellectual disability and autism.
Stakeholders Committee Chairperson, Mr Katiso Lebitsa stated that the spirit of the festive season calls for giving, uplifting and standing with those less fortunate.
“Our mandate as the Stakeholders Committee is to build relations and collaborate with our internal and external stakeholders to build a better Lesotho Football Association,” Lebitsa said.
“Christmas comes with the spirit of giving, spreading hope to vulnerable groups and we are hopeful that this gesture from the Lesotho Football Association will play a part in giving these kids a memorable Christmas.”
The Principal at the Special School, Mrs Mapotlako Rakoti expressed her gratitude to LeFA and revealed that the support came at the right time as their School has been hit hard by stock theft and domestic sheep predation, where they lost six cattles and 12 sheep.
She stated that deaf children and those with intellectual disability face unique challenges that require specialized support in education, communication and social integration to thrive.
Her sentiments were echoed by the Deputy Chairperson of School Board, Ms Manthatisi Molefe, who sang praises of LeFA for a noble gesture to bring joy and love to their special school during the festive season.
