Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President Advocate Salemane Phafane Kings Council (KC) has been recommended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to serve in yet

another important position in the Disciplinary Committee of Federation of International Football Association (FIFA). This is per the media briefing statement issued by LeFA last week.

It reminded that LeFA President is not new to serving football at the highest level having previously served two terms as the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Vice President

and also in the legal committee of FIFA. In an interview with Informative Sport on Monday LeFA Information and Media Officer Mikia Kalati said this is a recommendation, and there are some stages that need to be followed, after

which the members of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee will be informed about their positions and mandates. “LeFA President professionally has a history in

legal practice and he was earlier engaged in the FIFA legal committee, therefore this committee which he is recommended for is similar to the Disputes

and Protests Committee (DISPROCO) which deals with the disciplinary administrations and legal issues within the country,” he explained. Asked about LeFA President’s

experience in administration and football locally and internationally, LeFA Information Officer stated that LeFA President served as the member of the

COSAFA Executive Committee, member of the COSAFA Finance Committee, COSAFA Vice President and later became COSAFA Honorary President. “LeFA President started his

experience in the Lesotho Football in 1980s as Bantu Football Club (FC) Secretary General (SG) from 1984 until 1987 when he became LeFA SG holding the position

until 2002. Between 2002 and 2004, he became LeFA Vice President before being the association’s President in 2005 and he used to be its legal advisor in a

position he held since 1993,” Kalati enlightened. The statement further showed that the association congratulates Phafane, saying it is “grateful that the son of the

soil is being considered for a position of such great importance by the world football governing body”. “This indicates how the administration of international football in the African Continent admires the

experiences of LeFA President. Therefore this implies that as a country we are on the right track, heading on another level in football administration by getting recognition in the international football fraternity,” further reads the statement.
