Africa-Press – Liberia. After weeks of uncertainty and poor results, Blackman Warriors Football Club have officially parted ways with Head Coach Sam Chebli and his entire technical staff, bringing an end to a chaotic chapter in the club’s recent history.
The announcement on Sunday, November 2, followed a turbulent spell that began more than a month ago, when reports first surfaced that Chebli had resigned in frustration over internal issues at the club.
Crisis Brews After CAF Draw
On September 21, reports emerged under the headline “Crisis Hits Blackman Warriors”, revealing that the club was plunged into turmoil after a 0–0 draw with Coton FC in the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to insiders, Chebli’s decision to step down came after a fallout with club officials, who reportedly blamed him for the disappointing result.
The coach, however, countered by accusing management of failing to support him in the transfer market, saying he was not provided the players he had requested to build a competitive side.
The crisis deepened when several players allegedly abandoned camp, claiming the club had failed to pay their game per diems, leaving the Warriors in disarray ahead of their continental return leg.
Club Denies Resignation Reports
Just a day later, on September 22, the Warriors moved swiftly to calm speculation with an official statement.
“Following reports speculating on social media, the Warriors can confirm that we have not received any official communication from Coach Sam Chebli concerning his resignation and are fully focused on the return leg of our CAF encounter,” the club posted.Despite the denial, tensions within the team reportedly persisted.
CAF Elimination and Domestic Struggles
Chebli eventually traveled with the team for the return leg in Togo, but the outcome only worsened the situation. The Warriors were thrashed 4–1 by Coton FC, crashing out of the CAF Confederation Cup.
He stayed on to lead the side in the LFA Super Cup, where they narrowly lost 1–0 to FC Fassell, and the club’s poor form continued into the domestic league recording just one win in the opening three matches.
Official Split Confirmed
On November 2, the club finally confirmed the coach’s departure in an official release.
“Official Club Statement
Blackman Warriors FC has parted ways with Head Coach Sam Chebli and his entire technical team following a difficult run of results after recording just 1 win and 1 draw in our last 9 matches.
We sincerely thank Coach Chebli and his staff for their services and for leading us to Orange Cup glory, a proud chapter in our history. We believe it’s time for a fresh start,” the statement read.
End of an Era
Chebli’s reign was not without its highs, most notably leading the Warriors to the Orange Cup title last season, a triumph that had raised expectations among fans.
But with results dipping and internal unrest growing, the relationship between coach and club appeared unsalvageable.
Club officials say an announcement regarding a new technical setup will be made soon as the Warriors attempt to steady their season and restore unity within the camp.
