Africa-Press – Liberia. A humanitarian and proud son of the Borough of New Kru Town, Richard W. Sio, has dismissed speculations circulating within Electoral District #16, Montserrado County, that he intends to contest for a Representative seat in the 2029 elections.
Speaking to journalists via mobile phone from the United States of America over the weekend, Mr. Sio clarified that his generosity toward the sons and daughters of New Kru Town is not politically motivated or connected to any future electoral ambition.
“I’m a friend and brother to the current Representative of the district, Hon. Dixon W. Segbo, and I’m a loyal member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC). As such, I cannot betray him nor the party in which I’ve invested for many years,” Richard W. Sio stated.
His remarks followed his recent donation of 100 bags of cement toward the New Kru Town Bridge Jamboree Project over the weekend.
According to him, once completed, the bridge will help ease traffic congestion in the Duala area, especially as the Government of Liberia prepares to undertake the road expansion project from the Freeport of Monrovia to the St. Paul Bridge on Bushrod Island.
Mr. Sio further emphasized his commitment to human resource empowerment initiatives that, over the years, have positively impacted many young people in the Borough.
“I’m planning to launch a foundation in memory of my late mother that will cater to about 200 elderly residents of the Borough of New Kru Town to help address some of the life challenges they currently face,” he added.
He lamented that many Liberians in the diaspora are reluctant to contribute to development back home due to harsh public criticisms directed at lawmakers and prominent citizens.
“I’m calling on Liberians to always be civil in how they approach national issues because the development of our country lies in the hands of every Liberian,” Mr. Sio urged.
According to him, the completion of the bridge project will also benefit residents of Moboe Town and surrounding communities, who will then be able to use the bypass road to access New Kru Town without passing through Point Four Junction.
Mr. Sio also echoed public calls for legislative reforms to improve efficiency, oversight, and transparency within the Liberian Legislature, but cautioned citizens against unnecessary criticism of lawmakers.
He revealed plans to return home soon to expand his humanitarian initiatives, including support for elderly residents and assistance for parents struggling to pay school fees.
In addition, Mr. Sio disclosed that he will make an initial contribution toward the construction of the CDC Headquarters in Congo Town, Montserrado County.
“We, the diaspora partisans of the CDC in America, Asia, Europe, and China, are doing everything possible to support the ongoing construction of our party headquarters.”He affirmed.
Mr. Sio concluded by reaffirming his unwavering support for Representative Dixon Segbo, the Congress for Democratic Change, and the people of New Kru Town on Bushrod Island.
